Vanessa Hollifield

My name is Vanessa Hollifield, I am a glass artist in Winston Salem, NC. I specialize in stained glass and glass mosaic. My work spans from commissions for churches and homes, to repairs and restoration, to fine art gallery exhibition. You can find my work in various galleries and churches in North Carolina, Virginia, Philadelphia, and recently at the National Museum of Catholic Art & History in New York, NY.

I have always loved glass. Ever since I was a small child, I loved the light, the transparency, and the color. I grew up surrounded by beauty in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. I also grew up in a Catholic household where art and travel were appreciated & encouraged. I view my choice of a career in the arts as an extension of the same beauty I was surrounded by in my childhood.

When asked to describe my glasswork, I think Pope John Paul II said it best: "Beauty can never fully satisfy, it only stirs the hidden nostalgia for God."
